Townsville & out of town readers, thanks for coming back for week 3 power rankings for the Townsville Mixed Ultimate League.
Let’s get straight to it!
| 1 | Dark Matter + 2 |
With two weeks of games down Dark Matter are sitting pretty on top of the weekly power rankings. The early return of Air David helped to pull Ashley’s Dark Matter together to take a big win against The Birds. The combination of James David & Dee Finn on the field has reformed from last season and is looking just as deadly. This is the team to beat!
| 2 | RedBalls + 2 |
The RedBalls jumped ahead 2 spots this week with an impressive team win against Dye Fast Tye Furious. The RedBall girls showed their grit spending the first half of the game playing savage. This kind of determination and persistence will keep them going throughout the year. They have a great opportunity to keep up their winning ways with a game against the winless Green Lanterns.
| 3 | The Birds - 2 |
The Birds went down in a close game against Dark Matter on Wednesday night. Possibly could have been due to being distracted from the amazing shirts that Franich designed himself! Very good effort! With this week’s game being against the winless Clockwork Orange it will be a great opportunity for the Birds to jump back on the winning track! If they underestimate Orange though they could see their fall in the rankings continue in the weeks to come!
| 4 | Dye Fast Tie Furious - 2 |
The newly named Dye Fast Tie Furious are coming off a tough loss to the RedBalls last week. Some very promising performances from the newer players should help the Tie Dyes join together for a strong showing on Wednesday night against the LadyFingers.
| 5 | Lascivious LadyFingers |
The LadyFingers had a strong win over the still winless Green Lanterns last weekend. The addition of plus 1 ex-President Mike 'The General' Larson to Hugh's LadyFingers for the week made for a huge line-up that the Green Lanterns couldn't hold against. With that being Mike's only full game appearance for the LadyFingers it will be interesting to see how Captain Hugh adjusts this week. Expect to see more team involve with some strong showings from Mark Genge and Junki!
| 6 | Spastic Spunk |
+ 1
In week 2 Spastic Spunk got a facelift! Getting near on their full team in attendance, with star recruits Bobby Jackson, Duncan the miner & Sammy Morgan stepping into the line-up plus a great new shirt design from Amy Nelson the Spunk are looking legit! The hardest thing will be the ability to fill Duncan the miner's size 16 boots in the alternating weeks he is away! Still a very deep line up with the ability to go far if they can keep on improving!
| 7 | Clockwork Orange - 1 |
Clockwork Orange have struggled with numbers in the first two weeks of the comp. With week 1 having too many and week 2 having to few they are hoping to balance this all out in week 3. With captain Timmy Roland out for a couple of weeks after injuring his hand it will be up to Johannes, Carlos & Ben to fill the void. With a very solid line up across the park I expect these guys to get some wins under their belt in the next few weeks.
| 8 | The Green Lanterns - |
The Green Lanterns are coming together quite quickly now. Following on the green tradition of getting some solid training done before games under the leadership of Christine you can see the team improving more and more with every point they play. With Christine leading the ladies & Peter Roach, Rob Davies and the Man with the Dragon Tattoo running around the park this team has the potential to turn their season around. A tough game against the second seeded RedBalls this week will be a test for them!
With the season moving along nicely we are sure to see some movement with the power rankings in the weeks to come. With one of the most even starts to a season the championship race is still wide open!
Keep your eyes open for more breaking league updates from Sparkles and the Man with the Dragon Tattoo.
Until next time, this is Sparkles signing out.
my tip is spastic spunk to climb the ladder.....caught a bit of their game last week, and they look like a solid team. could be a dark horse pick so early in the season!
ReplyDeletemy tip is green lanterns to climb the ladder.....didn't catch any of their game last week, but their captain is good looking and I hear dragon tattoos are all the rage back home across the blue.
ReplyDeleteMy tip is dark matter to retain 1st place..
ReplyDeleteFor the rest of the season mwuhahahahahahaha
I'm glad everyone is getting into the write ups and everyone is having a blast this semester. Wednesday should be fun when strangers walk up to another and say "Hey you were the one dressed as Napolean Dynamite" or whatever other character.
ReplyDeleteThat was the very first time I've ever played in the Townsville league on the same team as Mike in nearly 4 years! Why have we not done so more often?
ReplyDeleteFor the same reason Hugh, that we dont put our entire local mixed nats lineup on the same beginners league team - its meant to be fun & fair not a storm in a teacup
ReplyDeleteOoooooh bitchy anonymous comments. LOVE IT.
ReplyDeleteAlso the term 'storm in a teacup' is the completely wrong term. Way to use it in the wrong context and lose cred
