What to look for in the final...
With the two in form teams of the competition contesting for the Townsville Ultimate Frisbee Championship, it is no surprise that both teams have come off boasting one of the most outstanding round robin records.
Both teams come into the final experiencing only one loss, and more importantly, the Rojo Raptures on a 12 game winning streak. These two teams have dominated the first two positions of the competition and have not let anyone penetrate their spots.
Rojo Raptures: It is hard to look past their captain Mike Larson. Captain America has been dubbed one of the most influential people to play against amongst the Frisbee community through the way he dominates a game through mere presence alone. Mike has made the last 4 semi-finals and has won 3 Championships already. Other strike players that are on the watch list, is the towering Timmy Roland, who has recently quit smoking and is in Tip Top shape for the Grand Final, and the little French speed demon, Tom. Will be an awesome team coming into the grand-final.
Tie Dye Hards: The Tye Dye hards have a solid line-up and are considered the favourites to take out the championship. Having led the competition from the first week, they were always the team to be beat. It took until the last round of Round Robin matches where they lost to Yellow Snow, who ironically is playing for the wooden spoon. There are several key players including arguably the best handlers in the competition in Lisa and Couper. Lisa has paved the way for their teams success, by dominating a lot of possession. In doing so, allowing Couper to roam around handling and exploring many opportunities for an assist. However, their key strike player is Finny lurking in the back. Being his first semester as Captain, this season has turned out great for the Rookie captain, and more expectations will arise.
The key match ups and things to look for in this game will be the aerial battle between Finny and Mike. With Couper and Lisa handling, there will be no problem exposing their deep defense. It will be interesting to see how Mike will play defense on such a solid offence, but he has done this before. Also, another thing to look for are Mike’s unusually tall team, it will be fascinating to see how Finny will play this. Looking forward to a great final!
Happy Throwing!

James can you help with scores? I tipped 4 from 4 and took home the championship :) yayyyyyyy :)
Dang. Sorry Mansauce. We couldn't hold out for universal point. We were up against zone defense for the first time in the season. Zone was initially banned to give beginners time to gather some skills, then gradually crept back in. If it had been man defense I think we would have dominated them this game. The team did really well playing against a zone and using a zone defense for the first time. 13 - 7 to them.

Zone is banned in the league. Fair enough.
ReplyDeleteBetter luck next time Hugh. Sounds like you guys had a good season.
Can i please request a Grand Final Review?
