Welcome to the first ever Townsville Mixed Ultimate League Power Rankings!
For all the new readers the purpose of this is to let everyone know what I expect from the league week in week out. Also hope to provoke debates between the teams!
With one week of official league games finished here are the power rankings for week 2!
Lets get to it!
1 | The Pink Birds |
After one match The Pink Birds led by the talented trio of Damon, Dane & Cody have come out on top of the first ever power rankings. If they can pass down their many talents to the newest recruits then these guys could go very deep into the post season! We will have to wait and see if they can hold form in the weeks to come!
2 | Tie-Dye |
The traditional colours of Tie Dye for Finny are looking to treat him better than in the previous season. After a slow start in game one against a tough Spastic Spunk team the Tie Dye line-up pulled together to show how even the mere thought of running around in rainbow colours can help form lasting bonds on and off the ultimate fields! Look out for the Tie Dye clad team running around the fields on Wednesday night!
3 | Dark Matter |
With a name like dark matter you know these guys are going to be trouble! Lead by the Dark Leader Ash O’Sul himself these guys are trouble all over the park. Ash’s leadership abilities combined with the capable abilities of Dee Finn & James ‘Air’ David not to mention the solid beginner talent that is coming together will make this team a force to be reckoned with. A huge match against The Pink Birds this week gives Dark Matter a chance to leapfrog the competition to the top of the Power Rankings. We will see what happens on Wednesday night!
4 | RedBalls |
With Mike ‘The General’ Larson abandoning his Red coloured post it left the colour open to be taken by the promising leadership talent of Mattie ‘White Chowder’ Hamilton. Joined with the capable support of Dave ‘Bob’ DeHollander and Bevo and a team almost entirely handpicked by Mattie means this team is here to shake this comp up! With a crucial matchup against Finny’s Tie Dye clad warriors this rounds off the top half of week 2’s power rankings!
5 | Lascivious LadyFingers |
Next on the line is El Presidente Hugh Osborn’s line up of ladies and lady-boys sporting the lovely soft hands (possibly due to the use of special team issue moisturising gloves? Hugh please advise if I can get some of these?). While boasting a solid line up against the Air David less Dark Matter in week one they fell short on Universe Point at the end of the night. Look out for these guys in week two though! After a crucial mid-week trade / league directors generosity they have picked up Mark Genge. This team of lady-boys are ready to slide their way into the winners circle!
6 | Clockwork Orange |
As our man with the Dragon Tattoo stated last week, Clockwork Orange and RedBalls battled off for the dominance of the warm colours, with RedBalls winning in a thriller. Don’t write Orange off though! With a ton of male talent & experience and one of the star female recruits Catherine ‘Aggie’ DeHollander we are sure to see great things from this team! Watch out for the battle this week between the league’s leading thugs, Carlos ‘I even take out my own team’ Castro & Chris ‘I’m gunna get right in your grill and make you angry’ Ende. Will be a great game to watch!
7 | Spastic Spunk |
Speaking of Chris Ende, his team, the curiously named Spastic Spunk are coming fresh off a tough match up against Finny’s soon to be Tie Dye clad team. With the quality players in the current line up and the talent still to come in Ryan Miller, Bobby Jackson and big Duncan Webley I can see Chris’s spunky team working its way up the power rankings in the weeks to come!
8 | Team Green |
Last but certainly not least comes the currently un-named Team Green. A tough week 1 game with key players unavailable, Godfrey, with a injured wrist (maybe he should try the other hand in the future?), Peter "Rolo" Roach, with prior commitments, Rob Davies, spending his time in the snow & Captain Christine Kline, down and out with sickness. With all this talent sitting on the sidelines it was left to The Man with the Dragon Tattoo to lead the team against the number 1 ranked team, a tough ask for anybody! In week 2 with all of this talent coming back into the line-up expect things to get shaken up very quickly!
With the 4 winning teams from week 1 facing off this week we will be down to only 2 teams with undefeated records come the end of week two. This leaves opportunities for every team to push their way up both the official ladder and the unofficial power rankings!
We will leave it at this for this week, until Wednesday Townsville Ultimate disc players, remember play hard & party harder!
winning!! this is a great idea. really gives the teams motivation. word on the street is james will be back this week, so look forward to an epic play off!!
