THE OGRES vs. THE MAD HATTERS
The Ogres have had a fairly consistent year finishing around the midway mark. Echo should be fired up to complete their middle of the pack dominance and will be seeking to put them in contention for the 5th place playoff next week. Duncan however could have ideas of his own. Having missed a pitiful game of Ultimate involving arse cheeks for the Wooden Spoon last season due to medical duties for a player on his team he may be looking for a rematch to "win" it in a proper fashion! Could he be planning to sabotage their chance at Middle Pack Bragging rights which only fade into ultimate obscurity or would he like to be remembered for 2 straight seasons of Wooden Spoon "wins". I know what I'd pick! The catalyst to success will be finding calmness on the field and getting a bit of confidence back in each other's abilities. A whole team focussed on performing the fundamentals of the game correctly will be the best way to see a victory for this and any team in the league.
The Mad Hatters know what they want and it's what they fought hard their last few weeks in the round robin to gain - a few wins! Eager to leave the bottom of the table once and for all and get away from the stigma of being the losing team, I think the relatively in-form Mad Hatters will be fighting it out to the end. Dave will know he has to step up again and will be hard for the Ogres to defend - lots of break throws for points and hard running. To craft a win the team will be ready to listen to him on the line and in the game. It should be competitive from this end.
YELLOW SNOW vs. PURPLE COBRAS
Purple Cobras still have a little bit of venom left to spit. It'll be up to their captain Samantha Jones to ensure they don't "dry bite". But let's leave the snake puns behind cause it's onto a music theme now. They'll be without Chris Ende on this one who's been off pursuing Rock and Roll dreams elsewhere in the country to get him pumped for Mixed Nationals. It's been sounding a bit rock and roll for the Cobras this season as they've had a mixed road to the finals themselves with a lot of highs and lows. These Cobras were joined late by Dane and Cody to infuse their blend of fast melodic beats and sheer youth only for it to end too soon with both of them called away to play at another gig - Physio Placements. Simon (Team Plus One) may have tweaked a few nipples at the show but he would've left them a week later to follow Team Plus One's own bandwagon which went on to produce a near flawless record. The key to the Cobras win will be doing the basics right on defense and being chilly with the disc.
Yellow Snow will have Shelby back featuring in both halves this game but let's keep that ankle safe at least for another week! Their 3rd placing performance this season is a bit fear inspiring. Having lost in a very close game the week before to the underdogs who took no mercy, I think this week they'll be back to their steady yellow stream of wizz, I mean wins. No doubt the key for their win is to play the smart game they do, and be hitting deep and short options to keep the defense guessing.
Hold the force!
