After a great first round, the league is looking great with many players showing awesome potential. Each team looks even, with every team having an even chance of winning the championship. Only time will tell the difference between each team, as the ladder is looking tight.
On field One, Mr. America will come up against his fellow country man in Shelby Jones. Shelby will be looking to maintain his red hot form from last round with his MVP efforts proving to be the difference in the teams. However, Mike who has hardly seen a loss on his career belt has started off the season slow with a very convincing loss to Team Finny. Mike will be looking to dominate the game and developing each player. Townsville Villain Prediction: Shelby to continue with his dominance with help from impact player Ashley O’Sullivan to take the victory in a thriller, 13-10.
On field two we have Team Finny coming up against Sam Jones and Chris Ende. Finny will be looking to use Cooper as a strike player with Rob handling, this will put him in an awesome deep cutting position to hopefully get his team over the line. However, team Sam is no push over, with strong girls on their team, possession will be strong. In addition, MVP from round 1, Matty Hamilton will be looking to touch the disc every second throw and with Dane West making an appearance, Finny might find it hard to find disc in the end zone. This game is looking to be a ripper. Villain predicts Team Finny to take it, 13-7.
One field 3, we have the league leaders, the Blue Sharks coming up against ‘A knife in the dark’. After clutching a sudden death victory from Round 1, AKITD will be looking get off to a solid start. With Hugh and Aaron running amok, AKITD will have no trouble finding speed around the field. However with James and Peter marking, they will make their lives hell. The game will come down to long points, pin point throws and clever cutting. The Villain predicts the Blue Sharks to take the victory 13-8.
Last but not least on field 4 we have Team DeHollander coming up against The Ogres. With both teams coming of losses in the previous week both will be looking to get off to a good start and focus on playing defensive. However, team DeHollander holds the key to the victory through specialist strike player Ray ‘Brigade’ Everest. With Ray sporting his brand new footy boots, he will be looking to break ankles all over the field. Townsville Villain predicts Team DeHollander to take the victory 13-9.
Tonight will be cold with field one being very muddy. It is wise to invest in a pair of football boots, a water bottle and maybe a jumper if need be. Be sure to turn up early for your team for some much needed warm up and pre game tactics. Good luck to all teams!!

ReplyDeleteWell if were anyone but Couper I'd be looking to define this new James David word "strike player" as someone lazy, half-arsed, and relatively useless. Having seen Couper play on Sunday and hearing him talk of struggling to find intensity on a lazy afternoon, I will apply the terms half-arsed and somewhat lazy, however useless, no. Looking to be quite a decent import pick-up for that team.
ReplyDeleteAshley O'Sullivan and the use of impact player. That I will take to mean as a good thing, remembering that ultimate is non-contact. The new Ashley O'Sullivan is a changed man. I'm excited to see by how much.

To Anonymous, I agree. Some of these predictions could really affect mentally weaker captains like Captain Psychology Mike Larson into falling into a self-fulfilling prophecy of his own, succumbing to the Villains use of his own trademark PMMTs (phychological mind manipulation tricks). But I say bring James David. Tonight the blue sharks will be de-finned (no pun intended but it'd be cool if Deanna Finn was on my team for this to work).

ReplyDeleteI still don't understand why the term strike player is used so often. Or what it means in this context. Are all the strike players listed a similar sort of player? Are they used strategically - coming on for a point, smashing it, then subing off? Or are they the go to player on the field? Or is this just a buzz word used to jazz up the article....

nah Sauce, strike player in this situation means, he turns up late, 3/4 into the game and maybe has some sort of effect but likely drags the team down from a potentially winning performance.
