Who can tell me how to make the columns wider?

Ok so I've pretty much been wondering how to make the writing space wider since we got this blog. Anyone done it before and want to let me in on the secret?

    the column width cannot be changed with the current template, if you think it necessary to widen the width you will have to change the template, this can be done in the design tab on the dashboard, but i really think it doesnt matter too much unless you have a huge blogs
